The NLT Text is Written in a Common Language
Malcolm Norton
In my sermon preparation I compare the NLT text with my primary public reading text from the NKJV. I have often read the NLT text as a proof text when I am preaching. The NLT text helps me to understand the text and be able to interpret the text for my understanding. When I have a better understanding of a certain text, I feel more comfortable trying to explain the meaning of the text to my congregation.

Show Them "Jesus" in You!
Linda Soto
I learn everyday how to love my boys even more and more w/out judgement. As much as want to stay on them, I have learned that loving them, forgiving them and being there when they need me, shows them Jesus in me. I have to admit before I was really pushy and that pushed tem away! I have seen a tremendous change in them and I just love it.
Through prayer and faith all things work! Bless you all!

An Unfinished Project
Bangels Behere
Well, I am not good at talking about myself, let alone writing about it.
I was raised a Catholic but the great part is that my family were devoted Holy Spirit believers. In the Portugese culture the Holy Spirit is a very blessed and special entity! My family hosted the Holy Spirit crown every year that my grandmother was alive. You would open your home to all and feed them and allow them to pay their respects to the Holy Spirit!
There was much song and prayer at these times. Then, on a Sunday there was a huge procession and mass and one of the family members, usually a child that had received First Holy Communion got to 'crown' the blessed Mother. That
was me as I was the oldest and the one who took the most interest in this tremendous celebration feast. My grandmother always told me that those who crown would always rebound from sorrow and tribulation and I am living proof of that belief for those who 'crown'!
As I grew older, married and had children I began to question some of the Catholic practice as the "Charismatic
Movement" was just taking effect. So on went my search for the Truth and what God was really all about. To my
astonishment, there was the Bible which Catholics did not actually study and I realized I knew very little other
than it was used for the gospel read during the mass.
And so I began my journey from church to church in search of a place to quench my thirst! It was a difficult
journey in that every church had their own views on bible study, fellowship, ministries, missions, etc. I am still
trying to find my church family but do stay in the word through devotionals, the internet, much Christian reading,
tv and radio as well as of course the bible.
Now that's a whole other story....KJV,NLT, study, etc. etc. I finally settled on the NLT because it was easier for
me to understand. I am still a work in progress, still devoted to the Holy Spirit and a prayer warrior! Without God
and His Word and His love, I would have no light in my life! He accepts me no matter what and is always waiting
there with open arms! Amen!

Not a Textbook But the Living Word
Wade Pierce
When I was in high school, my parents presented me with a great study bible. It proved to be a great resource, but the translation (NASB) was like reading a textbook at times. It felt like I was "studying" rather than reading. A few years ago, my wife bought a NLT bible for use as her primary bible. I picked it up one evening to compare it to my NASB - wow! It was as if the words came alive. I could read the NLT and absorb the words in a way I never experienced before. Ever since that day, the NLT has been my bible translation. I was thrilled when the NLT Study Bible was released last year. It has proven to be an incredible resource. I was not sure I would have a need for the online version, but I have used it often while traveling. God has blessed our family with this translation and I know He will do the same for you!

Originally i started out reading the new king james version. After listening to some preachers on the radio and on television that used different versions. I decided to go to my local bible store to look at the different versions and see what the difference was. After reading the nlt there was no question that was the version for me. It was just so much easier to understand what god was saying to me and it flowed so naturally. I thank the lord for leading me to it.

A Voracious Reader
Julie Peters
My first Bible was a NKJV. After many months of trying to read and understand the Bible, I finally gave up reading it because it was just too difficult to understand. I attributed this to being a new Christian. It wasn't until much later that I realized the reason I was having difficulty reading the Bible was because I spent more time trying to "translate" what it said into modern language than I did absorbing The Word. I asked my husband to give me a new Bible for Mother's Day and I selected The NLT Prayer Bible. Since then, God's Word has come alive for me, and I cannot get enough of reading it. The NLT is easy to understand and relate to, without watering down Scriptures or changing their meaning. I went from a Bible owner to a Bible reader thanks to the NLT!

Opening A Whole New World of the Bible
Terry Corder
Every year I read through a different version of the Bible. This past year I have been reading the New Living Translation and it has been one of the most enjoyable years of study. Stories I have read for years are now seen with such realism. I can only imagine that the next best thing would be to actually be there. Thanks for making it possible for me to visit the land of the Bible through this amazing and realistic easy-to-read translation.

NLT Enhances Bible Study
Amy Nelson
The Lord has called me in the last months to study the Bible intensely and to read each book of the Bible in 7 different translations. The NLT translation is the translation that I end with because it is able to provide fresh insight into a book of the Bible, even after reading that book 6 previous times. Praise God for this translation! I have been reading it on the internet because I do not have a printed copy yet, but perhaps the Lord will provide one through this testimony. Thank you for the opportunity to share and thank you for the hard work you put into
this translation. God bless you!

A Pastor's Love for People
Elizabeth Chauncey
Elizabeth Chauncey
I had been in a very abusive relationship, my husband at the time had burnt My Bible "King James " version. He said God did not want or love women like me,and I did not have a right to read it. I had a very hard time in thoes days understanding it but I had always tried, because it was God's love and the Bible that got me through.
I had a friend that went to church."family" I was not allowed to have outside friends. We were out one day doing errands when she ask me if I would mind if she stopped at her church to see her Pastor and when we go there she ask me if I would like to go in so I did, when she was done talkng to him he turned to me and ask me if I wentto church. I said no and started just telling him about my Bible and my husband it just came all out,and he handed me his very own Bible "NLT" and said I want you to have this, and I want you to come to church.
I took that NLT Bible and went to church. I got saved and baptised that year. I started reading the NLT Bible and could not get enough I found out God did love me.I recently purchased another. NLT after 14 years because of the conditon of the other one. but if it was not for the NLT Bible I would still probly be in that unealthly life still, because of a Pastor his NLT I am free and a happy Jesus Freak...

Gayle Benage
I was given a Living Bible New Testament when I was 18 and living in the Pit of hell, it read like a book which was great the words were so easy to understand and it was so easy to apply. So when the New Living Translation came out I was one of the first to buy it for my boys and myself. I love to see the application of the Bible and it so easy shows us what God wants us to do. I can atell you that becaise of the Living translation I have stayed faithful to God and love reading my Bible daily with fresh insight and marching orders. My favorite of all verses is Phillipans 4: 5-8; I love how it starts Rejoice Always and then reassure me that anything I worry about it is God's business so pray about everything. That is one of my life verses.

2009 has been a very trying year for my family. With the loss of my job and income, we began to lose our hope of keeping our home. God promises he will provide for our every need when we have faith in his plan. I know this but sometimes it is hard to see it coming true. Reading the NLT's "Living Water" every day has helped me to trust in his word. It is as if the inspirational scripture and words for the day are speaking directly to me. It had been a particular hard week of juggling bills and trying to some how squeeze some food money out of the budget. In a state of utter desperation, I prayed to God.

The Beginning to Understanding
Allen Hardwick
Many times I would pick up a KJV and really struggle to get through even the most basic of scriptures with understanding. When I researched all of the different translations I found the NLT 2nd edition to be the most accurate and easiest to read. The scriptures are not just words on a page but a living story. I still use the other translation for comparison when God directs me to a deeper meaning but for study I mostly use my NLT study bible. I have also recommended this translation to many of my friends and also pick up some and given them as gifts. Anyone who wants a modern english read of Gods word needs to have this bibleCompany: http://www.facebook.com/#/allen.hardwick?ref=name

The Rock Study Bible
Todd Thomas
I trusted Christ when I was 11 years old. I had a Christian heritage, but still didn't know what do next besides go to church, attend youth group, etc. A friend purchased a new Bible for me---and it catapulted me into a journey with Christ and I've never looked back. That Bible: "The Rock: The Bible For Making Right Choices". It was an NLT study Bible with so many wonderful articles and tips in it. I still use it to this very day. Since then, God called me into ministry, I've been to Bible college and seminary, and now serve as the Worship & College Pastor at a new church in KY. Though many new books have graced my shelf, undoubtedly one of the first I go to for sermon prep and devotional studies is my copy of NLT's "The Rock".

What A Difference
Wow, what a difference. Having study the Bible most of my adult life, I would need to resort to multiple sources to try an understand the Bible. This is a problem for those who want to understand the bible and do not have the dditional resources to do so. The New Living Translation (NLT) takes the bible to another level of understanding. The NLT bible communicates in a way that all can understand. What a gift! What a difference! Now, I can give this Bible to others in confidnece that they will learn and grow...as well as myself. Thank you Tyndale.

Reading in the 21st Century - Do Not Change God's Word
Gina Williams
About eight years ago I picked up this Bible and scanned the pages for familiar scriptures and found reading them a God send. No longer did I have to weed through the thou's and other words that are known within the King James version. My heart leaped with joy and to the checkout counter I went. I have enjoyed studying this Bible since the day I purchased and honestly need to purchase a new one because of the usage (wear and tear). For those of you who have not yet tried it - What are you waiting for? You will be blessed and inspired not only because its God's Word but you will be able to see how to apply His Word to your daily life.

The Light of God's Word
Jeff Geissler
The NLT Bible is one of the easiest translations to read and meditate on; it is as if someone is just talking to me in plain everyday English. Every morning, I pray. I sit quietly and lift up praise and thank God for all He has done for me and my family. I then ask that the Holy Spirit would speak to me. I make a confession of faith that my mind is alert and my heart is receptive to His voice and that I will be changed by not only hearing it, but doing it. I read and meditate on a Psalm first, and then I switch to the chapter in Proverbs that corresponds to the day of the month. I highlight the terms that jump out at me and ones that relate to the Psalm I just read. I write my thoughts and notes in a notebook/diary. I then go to a book in the New Testament that I am studying. Right now I am studying 1 Peter and Matthew. I then highlight the terms and meditate on the passage (usually a chapter). I then listen for God's voice, I ask for Him to reveal areas in my thinking, words that I have been speaking, and actions that I have been doing that need to change in light of His Word. After I wait on the Holy Spirit, thoughts come to me. I pray a prayer of repentance and thank God for His grace and unfailing love and ask the Holy Spirit to remind me throughout the day of this word and to guide me into His truth. I will write down a few key verses I had read on a note card so I can meditate on them throughout the day. It helps my mind to be renewed by His Word.

The Girl With the Broken Smile...
Cassandra Rinnert
I suppose it started when I was around 5 years old. My parents were alcoholics and life was hard. My mother being a drinker and most likely bi-polar did not have a relationship with the Lord, but had been raised by a Mormon mother who sent her away to a Catholic Boarding school at the age of 5. By the time she grew into a woman, she had no idea who the Lord was or is and was led into the dark world of Witch Craft. Along with being taken to a Mormon Church myself as a child, I watched her concoct "spells" and dabble in all that was dark. this frightened me. Even though I did not know The Lord Jesus Christ, I knew what she was doing was wrong. Looking back I see how the Lord had a huge protective blanket wrapped around me. Fast forward to age 29 and I am now a very angry, hurt woman who wants nothing to do with this " Jesus" or his zealot followers. In fact I had had an abortion in my Twenties, dealt with being raped, and my Mother abandoning me in a tent when I was 16 to fend for myself. There was no way I was in any mood to listen to these "Christians". Then something happened. I started to work with two people who were saved. I noticed that though they too had had struggles in their life, they were not angry, not bitter. In fact they were quite the opposite. They were more patient with people and loving actually. In fact, they knew my hatred for Christians and still liked me. No , they acted as if they LOVED me. One of them gave me pamphlets with daily devotionals and on occasion she would pray for me. I scoffed at it but allowed her to do so. The gentleman I worked with would tell me about how Jesus was not " just a cool guy that lived" that he was and is our Messiah. See I had always thought that he was this fictional character and if he did live it was just a guy who did some cool stuff. Each day these devotionals were getting to me. They made me think but I had nothing to reference the words I was reading. This is when my co-worker gave me a NLT Bible. He asked me to just start reading and if I disagreed with any of what I was reading to show him. I was very hesitant to accept, but being I'm not a not a rude person, I took the bible and started to read. This Bible was different then the one I had been given as a child. This one I understood. The words jumped out at me and I could SEE what my ancestors must have went through. Some things , however, still seemed to far fetched. Stories of Jonah in the belly, or Red Sea's being parted. To me these just couldn't be real. One day, while listening to Dr James Dobson speaking on the book of Matthew and the women finding the tomb empty. Something hit home. I grabbed my NLT bible and started to read. He was right. Two women had found the tomb empty and were left to spread the word around. To you and I this seems like nothing, but 2,000 years ago women were not allowed to testify to such event. They weren't allowed to preach, or teach. No one would listen to such " madness". When I read in the New Living Testament about how these women were given the most important job of a Christians belief, to claim the tomb was indeed empty, I realized this has to be the Truth!. If one were to make up a story, wouldn't they say Peter or Mark or some strong Male in this " story" had found the tomb empty? It was that very moment that I closed my Bible and gave my life to Christ. I cried. I couldn't believe for near 30 years I had persecuted people who believed in the Messiah. I had taunted and teased. Had even been malicious on some occasions. I knew it was time to ask the Lord to forgive me for such things. Since I have accepted Christ in my life, I have been baptized and healed from my sins. The death of my son through that abortion I had, I now see the love and forgiveness the Lord has for me. Living in a car at the age of 10 then being homeless again at the age of 16 had been hard on me. Especially when I woke up one day to my Mother being gone from the Tent and she never returned. Its been a long rough road. But what made my road hard was not knowing Christ. Now I am enduring and I do have the strength in all things because of HIM. Anytime I am witnessing to a new believer I recommend the NLT bible. In many cases I have bought them and send them anonymously in the mail. This bible is not " rewritten" not in the way secular people want us to believe. It is written in the way God has intended and with the Help of the Holy Spirit, He will reveal himself to you if you let him. All it takes is a little faith. A little faith and loving people brought me the NLT bible and I think GOD 11 years later still , daily, for this gift! My bible is tattered and ripped now, I use to feel disrespectful about this, now I see it as a Bible well read. Thank you for making a Bible that even an angry person as myself could read and see the truth in. Each night before I go to bed, I read Chapters in this same Bible and I receive much hopes and blessing daily. May God Bless You.

We Love the NLT!
Debi Large
One of my pet peevees has always been to have the same version that the preacher is using if I'm going to be there for awhile. So I used the KJV for many years, then went to NKJ and then NIV and finally a Holman. However, I love reading other versions at home and when I found the NLT I loved it so much that I study it at home and take it to church as well because it has become my ultimate favorite. One verse that I have loved and used with my children is Proverbs 21:23 which says, "Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble." It made the verse so clear that we bought NLT's for our teenage boys and they love them as well. Thank you!!

Chronological Version of the NLT
Georgia Beasley
I loved the New Living Translation of the Bible the first time I read it. I have a chronologiical version and a regular version. They are so easy to read and understand, the english is so simple. I believe even young children can benefit from the NLT. If you have never read the Bible in chronological order you should do so. It really helps you understand how everything ties together, especially in the Old Testament. The New Testament too is wonderful for the same reason. The sane stories are repeated by the Gospel writers and you get the whole story in one setting. It is great. Hope you buy one and try itl

God is Awesome
Isabelle Techawatanasuk
I've always had trouble trying to read the bible. Either the words were too profound for my understanding, or I was not able to have the discipline to read every day. However, I got the NLT bible as a gift, and I never realized how clear the text is as compared to the other versions. It makes the reading so much easier, and I now spend time every day with God, reading. God knows I've been looking for the right bible on the NLT website, and he sent someone to give one to me. Reading everyday has helped me learn so much more about God, and to spend time with him. I encourage everyone to purchase an NLT bible, and to study it daily. NLT also has the One Year bibles which I love. But all in all, only by living each day by God and spending every second of your life with him, spending at least an hour hearing his voice, will really bring you to know how awesome God really is. I love him! :)

My Story
Jerrod Schultes
It's nice to have a Bible with all the topical searches like NLT does. Even when using another translation, I can use the topical index to help me find scripture that you would pass up with other materials. Also when I first became a Christian, it makes everything much more clear and easy to understand.

I had a NLT once before, but I lost it and have had other translations since then. However, I continually find myself going online and reading the NTL even though I have the hard copy form of other translations. It is clear, and I appreciate that. As a matter of fact I have a tab open right now of the NLT on Biblegateway.com.

Choose Me, Lord!
Dennis McKenzie
Last year, one of our sermons was about "what we could do for God". I had already pledged to be more active wherever he would lead me. I had also joined a very good Bible Study group in our church and found that my very good King James version of the bible was a lot like reading Sheakespeare in a comic book class. I then purchased an easy to read version. It was so much easier to read and I found I was in it reading a lot more. One of our pastors asked if I would help in an Alpha class and of course I agreed. During this class we had a local Christian Book Store in for displaying Bibles and related merchandise. This is where I purchased my first NLT. This is now my favorite and I'm certain that the Lord is leading me somewhere, I don't know where, but I know I am winning, for he is with me. God be with you!

God's Word for Today
Christopher Rechkemmer
In today's world of so many distractions, I was looking for a version of the bible that brought God's word to me, clearly and accurately. I stopped looking when I discovered the NLT. The New Living Translation is written for today in a way that is easy for my family and I to understand, that also makes it a great witnessing tool and an excellent choice for new believers. I also find the NLT online resources very helpful as well. Thank you for making a version of God's word for today!

Putting the Word of God into the Hands of Kids
Dave Robinson
I am choosing a heart-language, a mother tongue. The decision will determine forever the language spoken by a kid. The task has me humbled and terrified before the Lord--do I choose my mother tongue, knowing its paternalistic translation will forever taint the discussion about women in ministry, or a paraphrase that is super-amazing, but not a Bible translation. Or something dumbed down for the sake of engaging kids? None of these were excellent options, especially considering this is the language these kids will speak forever. Thus the NLT--an excellent translation from some of our very best Greek and Hebrew manuscripts; clear, readable English that will allow kids to engage the accurately translated text in a natural way. A study Bible to bring clarity to confusing passages...is this where the Spirit is leading us? I think so, and pray that God will make His Holy, Living and Active Word come alive to this new generation as He has so faithfully in generations previous. I am grateful for your scholarship. This is the best of all worlds--and to image we have the choice of so many translations! We are truly a spoiled America. Lord, make us excellent stewards of your blessings. Amen.

Connie Jarrell
I love the NLT, because of the impact it has had on my best friend. We both agree that to truly study the Word you must understand what you are reading. She has learned and grown so much in her spiritual walk while using her New Living Translation Study Bible. We both love NLT! What could be better than sharing this kind of forever friendship? I truly urge women to join in a Bible study with your friends!

Graduation
Alisa Self
I received my NLT Bible from my pastor during the graduates ceremony at my church. I had never had a NLT version Bible and I quickly began to realize that it made a lot more sense to me than any other version. Since then, I have not used another version and I am able to understand things in Scripture that I never have before. God used the NLT version of the Bible to reveal things to me that I have read before but never understood. I would never go back to using another version for my Bible studies or general Bible reading.

Daily there are new levels within us God seeks for us to acquire within Him to climb higher our relationship with Him. Confidence(faith) occurs without uncertainty. I have been walking around for fourteen years with uncertainty about my path, my purpose, my calling and who I am in the Kingdom. October 12, 2009 became my day uncertainty became confidence and clarity thru NLT. The seed: But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Song to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles (Gal. 1:15-16) The msg: Because God was guiding his ministry, Paul wasn't doing anything that God hadn't already planned and given him power to do. Similarly, God told Jeremiah that God had called him, even before he was born, to do special work for God. The application: God knows you intimately as well, and he chose you to be his even before you were born. He wants yu to draw close to him and to fulfill the purpose he has for your life. I carry this daily with me to remind myself as I allow myself to seek Him to endure living this life I am having to endure. God is my confidence and assurance. This is my confirmation I am right where He knew I be. It is truly alright because He is working things out for His master plan. I encourage those who are walking around as I to know, there is a path we all are to endure according to His purpose. I daily press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I am forgetting those things which are behind and I am continuing to (live and not die) reaching forth unto those things God has just for me. "Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" or until He calls me home and say it is finished. I am thankful I gained the clarity from NLT to be filled with the confidence I needed at the time of my breaking point/crossroad of my faith path.As well as my identity in the Kingdom ... I Praise and Worship God in Spirit and Truth.

I Love This Translation
Sal Puma
I am a pastor. I have been studying the Bible for many years. The whole purpose of the Bible is to commmunicate to man who God is and His will for our lives. I love the NLT becuase it does such a fine job at doing just that. It is written to be understandable to the reader in a way that is his mind can easily process it and clearly understand how to apply it. It fully translates the the point that the Author intended in a way that I don't have to do a personal exhaustive study to figure it out. I highly recommend it.

13 Years and Counting
David Story
I have been a recovering alcoholic for thirteen years now. My last drink was in 1996, the same year that the New Living Translation came out. When I got out of the hospital (cirrhosis of the liver, and close to death) I rededicated my life to the Lord. I made a comment to my wife that I'd like to read the Bible through. She came home with a New Living Translation One Year Bible. I've been reading it ever since. Another year sober, another Bible reading completed. It has changed my life.

I would go to sleep at night an had this dream for a year that I was getting marry and my father was walking me down the aline and thin he vanish. I was not sure what the Lord was trying to tell me. Two weeks before my father die I got a phone call from my father letting me know he had pancreatic cancer. He told me to let my brother if he did get to talk to him that he "Love" very much. I keep asking what stage was the cancer in he would not tell me. I believe "GOD" let me hear my father for the last time as a birthday gift to me. My birthday November 22 I usually get a birthday card and $100.00 from my father but "GOD" gave me the best gift of all voice of my father before he passed away. As we talked I as my father was he save he void the question but I let him know that I want him to go to heaven with us. I pray that he asked "GOD" forgiven before he left this earth. I always asked myself if my father said the sinner prayer before he passed away. I believe in my heart he is save and in heaven.

This Little Light of Mine
As a child, we used the King James Version and I never realized that there were other Bibles. After I turned 18, I left home and rebelled against going to church and reading the Bible. Then at age 26 I got married. We had already lived together 6 years so I didnt think anything would change. Marriage is a crazy thing and I soon realized that dealing with a marriage without God is a setup for disaster. I started going back to church within months but still not reading the bible. Going to church was not enough; I needed to know the Word for myself so that I could use it. One day in Bible study my friend Leaya read a scripture and it made so much sense. It didn't sound like that old language I was used to hearing with the King James. So later I asked her what book was she was using and sure enough it was the NLT. She told me about how much it helped her so I ran out and bought one. All I can say is OH MY GOD!! My understanding of the scriptures is so much more in depth than it was before. The stories just come to life in this Bible and I can relate that Bible to situations I am going through. I have been able to help and encourage so many people with the passages out of it. I receive a breakthrough everyday that I read it so I read every day!! It truly prepares me for the spiritual warfare I go through daily. This book is so great that I gave a few friends copies for Christmas last year. I have a fire in me and it continues to grow. I am truly having a love affair with God and it feels so God. My blessings and spirit have poured over into my husband and he loves it too. At first he would only read King James but now I catch him in my book. God answers all prayers because I would never have thought that my marriage would have survived but it is going strong. We love each other, we worship together, and we reading NLT together. I just thank God for the Word but I also thank God for this version because I am not sure if I would be at this level of understanding without it. Praise God and be blessed Love Tess

The Word of God Speaks!
As a husband, father of three, associate pastor and as of this year a pre-field missionary, my life is pretty crazy. It's pretty easy to get stressed out and overwhelmed by the tasks at hand. Not to mention with the continual ministry to others, my spiritual tank gets a little low every now and then. Daily time in God's Word is a must because it speaks to us in a powerful, convicting and clarifying ways. However, there are times when I feel like I just need to "soak" in God's Word for an extended period of time. When I've actually taken the time to do this,

I've never been disappointed. It's not like God just recharged my batteries, it's like He gave me new ones!

The Bible is finally coming alive!
I used the KJV for years and found it was hard to just pick it up and read it. When I started reading the NLT, things started coming alive and painting pictures in my head like never before. I was noticing things for the first time that I had missed with years of reading the KJV. I'm a very visual person and the archaic words in the KJV were never able to put a real clear picture in my mind of what it was talking about. With the clear, everyday language style of the NLT, I'm finally able to gain a clear and immediate understanding of God's Word.Name: Kevin Miller

I am a child of the KING! I also am a Deaf Interpreter raised with the precious King James Version. My husband is a Pastor who uses the Precious King James Version from the pulpit. BUT as an Interpreter I found in Deaf Sunday school class they could not follow the King James Version without most of my time used in explaining words. I LONGED for them to get a thirst for reading the Bible at home, alone, as a couple, or with their family. I found the King James was all hard words to them, and very little understanding. The Value of the readable translation was again LOUDLY pointed out when children came to our Sunday school who knew NOTHING about Church or the Bible. They looked blank when I tried to read or teach a memory verse from the King James. I found myself spending way too much time just explaining the words, when I wanted to show them they could read the Bible for themselves at home and learn about God. They could not do this without a readable Bible. So although the King James is DEAR to MY OWN heart, the NLT has been vital in outreach. My life verse is John 3:30, "He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less."
